Through My Eyes is just like it sounds, a look at a band from my point of view. Every one has their own opinion and this is mine.
Chvrches a band that has been around for almost 10 years, yet I hadn’t had the pleasure of hearing their music till a few years ago. Being a huge Paramore fan a song Bury It came out featuring Hayley Williams and this band was named Chvrches. I liked the song and didn’t know where they came from. But once I discovered their music, I was overjoyed. It’s was like binge watching your favorite show. I could got back and had a lot of catching up to do, and such amazing music.
The band consists of members Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry. Cook and Doherty had meet in Glasgow while attending school in 2003. They had been with a few other bands and did everything from backups, producing, putting in their time. They both were not happy with any music and wanted to make their own sound. They asked Mayberry a drummer to help with a studio project and named them their trio Chvrches. Doherty originally was the lead singer, but when Lauren had shown her very unique, tranquil, sweet pull you in type of voice. She became the lead vocalist to their 80s synth Indie-pop sound. With Mayberry writing hooks and lyrics, and Doherty’s melodies they were on their way to creating the sound that is Chvrches.
Once they released music online they got the feed back they were hoping for. But record executives and publications wanted to make Lauren the face of Chvrches. They were in it together and no one was bigger than the other. So they refused and gained their popularity by word of mouth. And rightfully so, they are amazing and make music they want. The standards they set for them selfs shows in the songs they create. Here are a few of my favorite Chvrches songs I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
